The dog and the polar bear

On a late October day on the Canadian tundra next to a gray, cold, but unfrozen Hudson Bay near tiny Churchill, Manitoba, a pack of large Husky dogs, the pride of hunter-trapper Brian LaDoon were comfortably lounging on a fresh bed of snow, each tethered by a long chain. Norbert Rosing, a naturalist and photographer was setting up his equipment to capture the scene. A wild polar bear is approaching the Husky who is signaling an invitation to play. Amazing photos:

IT IS DANGEROUS FOR A DOG SLED OPERATOR TO ALLOW HIS VALUABLE PACK AND ESPECIALLY HIS MALAMUTE LEADER TO PLAY WITH "GARBAGE BEARS"

THIS ACTIVITY IS NOT CUTE

THIS IS DANGEROUS
AND IRRESPONSIBLE
ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DOGS HAVE TO WORK,
AND WHEN THE GARBAGE RUNS OUT AND THOSE BEARS GET MEAN MEAN MEAN
THEN ITS NO LONGER CUTE

I DOUBT THE MALAMUTES WOULD EVER GET CAUGHT UNLESS IN AMBUSH

OK SO ITS A PHOTO -OP IN OUR COLD NORTH WHICH IS ACTUALLY NOT SO BAD IN OCTOBER ANYWAY

I have travelled and worked in the North,
I know the Driver would never allow unsafe activity,
besides this reaction is typical ALPHA male respect, on behalf of Bear, I am *certain* everyone knows how very very quickly this could have gone very wrong.
