Mazda develops case of arachnophobia

An itsy bitsy spider may be crawling up your vehicle's evaporative canister and putting your life at risk. According to Jeremy Barnes, director of communication and national events for Mazda, the car maker discovered small spiders had entered the evaporate canister vent lines of some of its 4-cylinder Mazda 6 vehicles and spun webs, subjecting the vehicles to possible fuel leaks. "We've found blockage in this line that appears to be related to a particular type of spider," Barnes said. The culprit is the yellow sac spider, a small arachnid with a body about three-eighths of an inch long with legs that measure about three-fourths of an inch. Mazda has recalled 65,916 vehicles. Mazda will soon contact every 4-cylinder Mazda 6 owner in North America. Source Photo: Rick Vetter

A dog-friendly car from Honda

Now, at a time when much of the auto industry is going to the dogs, Honda is actively chasing dogs. The company has designed a Dog Friendly version of its Element, a vehicle that was shown at this month's New York Auto Show. Honda says the vehicle will go on sale this fall. The special package likely will contain:

  • A cushioned pet bed in the cargo area on an elevated platform.
  • An extendable loading ramp. (Did you ever try and lift a Shepherd into an SUV?)
  • A 12-volt rear ventilation fan.
  • Second row seat covers in a dog-pattern that matches the pet bed fabric.
  • A spill-resistant bowl and all-season rubber mats with a bone pattern.
  • Special Edition emblems.

BMW unveils dog-proof car

BMW, manufacturers of luxury cars, are proud to unveil a new model, guaranteed to have a longer lasting, cleaner, body because dogs will find it unpleasant to urinate on. Dr Hans Zoff, the inventor of Canine Repellent Alloy Protection system, said: 'Research shows that most BMW customers love to keep their cars clean – but dog fouling is a constant irritant.' A pet who relieves itself over the new model's wheels will get quite a buzz out of it – as an unpleasant 200 volts shoots through its body. (By the way, Happy April 1) Source: Metro.uk
